Today is Friday.
Your project deadline is on Sunday and you haven’t started doing your project yet.

Sounds like a familiar situation to you?
I’m sure it does.

Isn’t this something almost all of us do?
We procrastinate and never plan our things ahead of time.

Why? Well, because we know we can get ready projects from GitHub or elsewhere and run them in a span of just one day. We submit it, we get the marks! All set!

But the fact is, by doing this every month, every semester, we are doing something extremely wrong for ourselves.

When we step into the industry we realize things cant work this way anymore. Even the pass outs having great grades, face a lot of difficulties. We realize there is a huge gap between where we stand and the industry.
Things work a lot more different than the way we have been doing them almost all our school and college days.

The industry, projects, timelines, everything works on management.
Planning, executing, documenting, and then making improvements for the next time, is the basic flow of how things work.

This is where project management comes into the picture.

Project management is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve specific project objectives according to the project acceptance criteria within agreed parameters.

For example, the launching of a new service, a marketing campaign, or the development of a new product is all projects. In fact, even a wedding is a project that requires management.

Project management has 5 phases:
Conception and initiation, planning, execution, performance/monitoring, and project close.

Some of the major skills required for project management are the core abilities that are necessary to successfully bring a project from start to finish.

For example, a project manager must be organized, knowledgeable, and able to multitask.
They must also be a good communicator, strong leader, and effective problem-solver.

In the broadest sense, project managers (PMs) are responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific projects for an organization while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
Demand for the next 10 years for project managers is growing faster than demand for workers in other occupations.

By 2027, employers will need nearly 88 million individuals in project management-oriented roles. No doubt, a career in project management is one of the high level and most rewarding careers.

So, now that we know how this domain works, the question which comes to your mind might be: How do I begin? How should I pursue a career in this? Or maybe just, how should I learn to plan and organize my projects?

For starters, join groups on LinkedIn to interact, ask questions and do a little more study on the role.
Even better, if you know someone who is already a project manager, talk to them and ask questions. Ask them how and why they got into project management and ask them what it is all about.

Take small steps to climb the ladder of Project management!
